On Wednesday 11 January 2023, our activists and partners demonstrated in front of the European Parliament in Brussels, calling on Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to help people heat homes.

The action comes ahead of the vote by the EU Parliament’s Industry, Research and Energy Committee on the revised text of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), happening on 9 February. When adopting that text, and in the next phases of the negotiations, MEPs can make sure that banks play a key role in speeding up the renovation wave of buildings across Europe by providing their customers with affordable financing solutions for energy efficient home renovation.

To reaffirm this commitment, on 11th January we delivered an open letter to MEPs, signed by 36 experts and NGOs, highlighting how the Parliament and other EU institutions can ensure that banks do their part for home renovation. Representing the EU Parliament, Pierre Larrouturou, Radan Kanev, Sean Kelly and Martin Hojsík met with the activists.

We are calling on our supporters to share the open letter with as many MEPs as possible. Spread the word and support us in amplifying this message!
