Caroline Metz

Dr Caroline Metz is EU Policy Officer at ShareAction in Brussels, where she engages with EU policymakers, regulators, investors and civil society organisations in order to promote a fairer and more responsible financial system.

She earned her Ph.D. in Political Economy from the University of Manchester (UK). She has taught courses on global political economy, money and finance and feminist political economy. Her research focused on the European regulation of asset-backed securitisation in the post-2008 world, and on the politics of indebtedness and debt defaults.

Prior to joining ShareAction she was a researcher at the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (UK), where she was also involved in union work as a member of the University and College Union. She has previously worked as an expert for the European Economic and Social Committee, and has collaborated with NGOs such as Finance Watch (Belgium) and Finanzwende (Germany).
